There is much to discover in the Rhine Valley and the Westerwald

Even in ancient times, the Romans learnt to appreciate the countryside and scenery of this region. Various relics of the Roman times can be found at the Limes which has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005.

Very close to our holiday apartment are the towns of Neuwied, Andernach and Koblenz, the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the upper part of the middle Rhine Valley, alsofinding its ancient roots in this period.

There are various cultural and recreational opportunities to be found near our holiday apartment in the Kannenbäckerland.

The area around our holiday apartment is also an eldorado for hikers. Whether it may be the Rheinsteig®, the RheinBurgenWeg, the Westerwaldsteig or one of the various premium round trips like the Traumpfad Saynsteig – hiking enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice.

Here tender tropical butterflies flutter freely between bananas, hibiscus and other tropical plants and enchant the visitors. Indian blue quails with only bumblebee-sized fledglings, tortoises, colourful tropical finches and the mysterious green iguana are further inhabitants in the Butterfly Garden of castle Sayn.
